Aircell Inflight Entertainment is a hybrid web + native app for iPads and Android tablets. It was created for GoGo Inflight Internet company for streaming movies and TV shows to airplane passengers. On the surface it looks a lot like Netflix. The biggest difference is that all the content was hosted on the plane. When on the ground the show could start and it would play from a server over the internet. Once the plane takes off and is above 10,000 feet, a handoff occurs to switch to an on-board server. The streaming and player are handled natively, while the menus are loaded as HTML pages.
